Eddie Ware Head Coach

Eddie Ware is originally from Clinton, MS, and began coaching the Mississippi Makos in 1992.  Eddie is a graduate of the University of Kentucky where he was a four-year scholarship swimmer.  While swimming at UK, he was a three-year conference scorer and two year SEC Academic All-Conference.  Eddie was also awarded the Scholastic Award (highest GPA on team) and Coaches Award during his swimming career at UK.

As an age group swimmer in Mississippi , Eddie set several state records and achieved Junior National time standards.  Eddie was named American Swimming Coaches Association Age Group Coach of the Year in Mississippi for 2003.  He has served several positions for Mississippi Swimming and currently is the chairperson for Technical Planning.  Eddie has served as the head or assistant coach for the Mississippi Zone Team numerous times.  With his brother Brian, he was the winner of the 2003 Conoco/Phillips 66 Outstanding Service Award.  Eddie also coaches the Madison Central High School Swim Team.
 
 
 
 
 

Brian Ware Head Coach - Senior Group

Brian Ware grew up in Clinton, MS, achieving several state records and Junior National time standards as an age group swimmer.  He began coaching for the Mississippi Makos in 1991 with only 8 swimmers and has steadily built the program to become a state champion with a current team roster of over 250 swimmers.  Brian is a graduate of the University of Kentucky where he was a three-year scholarship swimmer.  While swimming for UK, Brian was a three-year conference scorer and two year SEC academic all-conference. 
 

Over the years, Brian has produced an Olympic trial qualifier, Senior National qualifer, numerous Junior National Level swimmers, state record holders and individual state champions.  He has served several positions on the Mississippi Swimming Board.  Brian has served as General Chairman, Admin Vice-Chairman, Technical Planning Chairman, Senior Vice-Chairman, and Coaches Representative as well as coaching for the Mississippi Zone Team.  In 2003, Brian received the Conoco/Phillips 66 Outstanding Service Award from USA Swimming in recognition of his outstanding service and dedication to the sport of swimming. Brian shared this award with his twin brother Eddie. Brian has coached the Madison Central High School Swim Team and was named the MHSAA Boys Coach of the Year in 1999, MHSAA Coach of the year in 2015 and MS Preps All-State Girls Coach of the Year in 2015.  He was also elected Senior Coach of the year in Mississippi Swimming in 2016 and 2017.
 
In addition to coaching the senior group with Makos, Brian is the head Men's and Women's swim coach at Millsaps College, the only DIII program in Mississippi.
 
Brian is married to Allison and has a son Reed, son Cooper, and daughter Sarah Payton.
Marcy Rushing Lead Assistant Coach Clinton

Marcy Warriner Rushing grew up in Brandon, Mississippi swimming at the age of four. She swam with the Sunkist swim team throughout her high school career earning a full swimming scholarship to the University of Alabama. There she was a three time NCAA Division I All-American, three time school record holder, two time Olympic Trial Qualifier(2000 and 2004), and a Canadian National Champion.

Rushing is currently in her thirteenth year coaching as an assistant coach for numerous club teams throughout Mississippi and Alabama.  She has served four years on the Mississippi Swimming Board, served as a Mississippi Zone coach, and has helped numerous athletes win college scholarships.

Marcy and her husband Tim have three children, Abbie, Ellie and Kent.  They currently live in Clinton.  Marcy coaches for the MS Makos Swim Team at the Clinton Healthplex.

Natalie Johnson Assistant Coach Madison

Natalie Tatum Johnson grew up in Madison, Mississippi where she started summer swimming at the age of four. As an age group swimmer, Natalie swam for the Sunkist Swim Team for 10 years and swam on the Madison Central High School swim team 7th grade through 12thgrade, breaking several MHSAA and MSI relay records and earning individual state championships. Natalie competed on the Mississippi Age Group zone team in 2008 and 2009.

 

Natalie is in her fourth year coaching for the Mississippi Makos Swim Team. She also recently served as the assistant coach for the Mississippi Age Group Zone Team. Natalie is a sixth grade math teacher at Germantown Middle School and coaches the Germantown High School swim team.

Natalie lives in Madison with her husband Davis. She is an assistant coach for MS Makos at the Madison location.
